About The Venue

Located in Portsmouth, Ohio The Columbia is a historic building, rich with history.

Built in 1910, The Columbia started out as a theater with only 300 seats. It was the only theater in Portsmouth at the time.

By 1929 the Columbia had received sound equipment, but in 1937 it and the whole town of Portsmouth was flooded and it nearly destroyed.

In 1941, it was purchased and operated by Warner Bros, until the 1980's. It sat empty for many years until current owner, Lee Scott invested in the facility in 2006 with a million dollar rennovation. It re-opened as the Columbia Music Hall and played host to many concerts until it was tragically damaged by a fire in 2007.

The rear of the roof collapsed, and left only the lobby and the facade. It was evenutally demolished.

In 2012, a new auditorium was rebuilt in its place and has since hosted many more concerts.
